- Zero Personal Information: We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or physical address. No account registration is required.
- 100% On-Device Storage: Your quiz scores, daily challenge streaks, and learning progress stay strictly on your device or in your personal Apple iCloud (`CloudKit`).
- No Ads or Tracking: Errorology contains zero third-party advertising SDKs, data brokers, or cross-app tracking.
1. Our Privacy Commitment
Welcome to Errorology, developed by Manisha Gupta. We built Errorology to help developers and students master software debugging through visual simulations and interactive quizzes.
We respect your privacy. This policy explains right upfront that Errorology is designed from the ground up as an local-first application where your data belongs entirely to you.
2. Information We Collect
Because Errorology runs natively on iOS using Apple's secure app sandbox, we collect only the minimum information necessary for the app to function:
- No Personal Data: We do not collect, ask for, or store any personal identifiers. You never have to log in or enter an email address to use Errorology.
- On-Device Progress Data: When you complete quizzes, unlock badges, or build daily challenge streaks, your progress is saved directly to your device (`UserDefaults` / `SwiftData`). We do not have access to this data.
- Optional Apple Analytics: If you choose to share analytics with Apple through your device settings, anonymous diagnostic information may be collected by Apple to help improve app stability. This information does not identify you personally.
3. Local & iCloud Storage
Your educational data remains on your device at all times. If you have iCloud enabled on your Apple devices, your learning progress may automatically sync between your iPhone, iPad, and Mac using Apple's encrypted `CloudKit` service. This sync happens privately between your device and your personal Apple Account.
4. Device Permissions
To enable Errorology to scan screenshots of programming errors and code, we require access to specific system permissions:
- Camera & Photo Library: Errorology requires access to your device's camera and photo library so you can capture or import screenshots of code and compiler error logs for interactive visual analysis. All image processing is performed strictly locally on your device using Apple's native Vision and CoreML frameworks. Your photos and code captures stay completely private and are never uploaded or transmitted to any external servers.
5. No Advertising or Tracking
Errorology does not show third-party advertisements or embed advertising networks like Google AdMob or Facebook Ads. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell, rent, or share your data with data brokers.
6. Children's Privacy
Errorology is designed to protect children's privacy and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can address your concern.
7. Your Control & Data Deletion
Since your data is stored locally on your device, you have total control. You can reset your quiz history and daily streaks anytime within the app settings, or simply delete Errorology from your device to permanently erase all locally stored app data.
8. Changes & Contact Information
If we update this Privacy Policy to reflect new app features, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. If you have any questions or feedback about privacy in Errorology, feel free to reach out directly:
